Orange is the new black at the Great Pumpkin Festival this September
If you are looking for an event that celebrates one of fall’s favorite tastes, Heaven Hill Farm’s unforgettable Great Pumpkin Festival is one of the areas’ largest fall festivals. Running from Sept 14 to Nov 3, it features a brand-new corn maze for kids young and old and includes carnival rides, pick-your-own-pumpkin activities, pony rides, a glass beehive, and pig racing. You family won’t forget riding in a hay wagon to pick out the perfect pumpkin for this year’s Jack ‘O Lantern carving from the huge pumpkin patch, or visiting the farm’s friendly cows, bunnies, horses, goats, and other animals.
Calling all history majors: If you are a history buff, you won’t want to miss the one-day Vetrnaetr WinterNights Festival held on Sunday, October 20. This annual event honors the tastes, sounds, and legends of the Vikings and early Norse culture and beliefs. It is hosted by the local Vernon Nordic House restaurant and bakery and the event attracts adventurers and families from across the area to share in the celebrations.
